The Course

the_courseThe course lies on a gentle incline which slopes towards the sea, and many of the holes offer magnificent views of the Mediterranean.
The course, with its exceptional natural surroundings, is not particularly hazardous despite the fact that the river to which it owes its name crosses it in four places.

Summary of some holes:

  • The 4th and 5th holes stand out for their beauty. They are situated near the sea.
  • The 6th hole has the magnificent bunkers near the difficult green. Great precision is required.
  • The 8th hole is a challenge, because the green is protected by bunkers that are strategically situated.
  • The 10th hole is a dog-leg to the right.
  • The tee on the 11th hole, par 4, is situated 80 mts. above the street. It has wonderful views.
  • The 12th hole, par 3, is surrounded by a lake.

The golf course has 18 holes, Par 72, the value of the course is 72.1 and the slope is 132.

  • White Tees 6166 m
  • Yellow Tees 6077 m
  • Red Tees 5321 m

HISTORY OF THE GOLF COURSE
The 18 hole, par 72 golf course was designed by Javier Arana in 1965. Since then and little by little it has become one of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol.
From the beginning we have hosted some important national tournaments, such as:

  • Spanish Professional Championship
  • International Andalusian Individual Championship
  • International Spanish Amateur Championship
  • International Andalusian Individual Children’s Championship
  • Spanish U 14 Championship
  • International Andalusian Individual Boy and Girl Championship
  • Spanish Professional Double Championship
  • Spanish Mid Amateur Championship

Additionally, hole 4 has been used in golf advertising in different campaigns by the Tourist Ministry and the Junta de Andalucía.
There have been some important tournaments and prizes such as the Spanish Professional Championship. The famous professional player, Marta Figueras-Dotti, was the Children’s Champion of Spain in Río Real in 1971.
